Notre Dame

ESPN is reporting that Notre Dame's first phone call in its search to
replace Matt Doherty will be to Rick Pitino. It doesn't sound like they
expect Pitino to be interested, but still... You have to wonder after the
Miami thing. It doesn't feel right, because ND will always be a football
school and South Bend wouldn't appear to be nearly metropolitan enough for
the Pitinos. On the other hand, it conceivably could be a national power,
with a coach like Pitino, and it does play in the Big East, bringing Pitino
back to New York, Miami and Boston regularly. I'd say it's a long shot, but
nothing would surprise me.
