Duncan Stays - C's and NBA Notes

Well, it looks like the Magic ran out and Duncan decided to
return to the Spurs:

Still, the Magic deserves kudos for luring away Grant Hill and whomever
else -- McGrady? Eddie Jones? Mo Taylor? -- they sign.

And the Magic not having to reserve any money for Duncan, may
make any Mercer trade for McGrady a non-issue, freeing him up to
rejoin the C's. Probably wishful thinking.

C's Summer Roster - And No Jaron Rush

Apparently the grass was greaner on someone elses summer squad.
And looking at the collection of players the C's are fronting, the name
Motley Crew comes to mind. Maybe Silas Marner will be this year's
Adrian Griffin or David Swimmingpool.

Battle will lead Celtics' brigade

By Shira Springer, Globe Staff, 7/10/2000

The Celtics announced their 15-man roster for the Shaw's Pro Summer
League yesterday. The hosts will be led by forward Tony Battie,
first-round draft pick Jerome Moiso, and former Sacramento Kings guard
Bobby Hurley.

Joining them will be forwards Mark Blount, Rodney Elliott, Bobby Martin,
Silas Mills, Damian Owens, James Forrest, and Kenny Williams; guards
Kris Clack, Jerome Allen, Roberto Bergersen, and David Vanterpool; and
center Kevin Salvadori.

A few of last summer's success stories: rookie free agent Adrian Griffin
earned a spot with the Celtics after a stellar showing; Providence
product Austin Croshere got a chance to showcase his talent and received
more playing time with the Pacers this past season; and the SuperSonics'
Rashard Lewis made up for his lack of college experience by shining in
summer play.

The league will run from July 17-24 at UMass-Boston.

Mixed news on the literary front. Shira Springer who wrote the
above article is the new Celtics beat writer for the Globe, but on
the positive side, Jackie O is returning to the Globe, after her latest
bun pops out of her oven.
