Fortson for Childs?

I seem to remember something about Kenny not getting along with Childs when
they played together...yes?

Anyway, from http://www.nypost.com/sports/knicks/32139.htm:

>
Meanwhile, The Post has learned another sign-and-trade deal looms
>out there of lesser impact but one the Knicks are considering and one that
>could ultimately make the Knicks favorites again to return to The Finals.
>You've read his name in this space before: Boston's Danny Fortson, whom
>the Knicks nearly obtained at the trade deadline in February for
>much-needed rebounding support.
>
Layden phoned Fortson's agent yesterday and discovered the only way
>he'll be able to obtain the rugged rebounding free-agent forward is
>through a sign-and-trade and not with the Knicks' allotted $2.25 million
>cap exception. And that's good news for the Knicks if they can pull it off
>because it means they can save that $2.25 million exception for perhaps
>free agent John Starks, who is dying to come back.
>
Instead of letting Fortson go for nothing, the Celtics yesterday
>made him an offer well above the exception, believed to be in the $4
>million per year range with the idea of pulling off a sign-and-trade, a
>source told The Post. The Celtics considered keeping the 6-7 Fortson until
>they drafted UCLA power forward Jerome Moiso.
>
It just so happens backup point guard Chris Childs makes $4 million
>next season too. A Childs-for-Fortson swap is a natural. It would
>alleviate the Knicks' guard glut and the Knicks could stick Fortson in as
>their starting power forward over rebounding-challenged Larry Johnson.
>Meanwhile, the Celtics get a veteran who played his best ball as Kenny
>Anderson's backup in the mid-1980s.
