It's one thing to trade Fortson, it's another to aid the Lakers in their
quest for a title. Even McHale wouldn't stoop this low. . . but again, it's
just a rumor, no one should be hung out to dry when nothing has happened
just yet. . .

 01/27- PHIL SAYS NOT IKE- Phil Jackson is never one to
 tip his hand, but in his usual laughing way, said that Ike
 Austin was not going to be a Laker, at least not now.
 Sighting that his contract was not very appealing, and that
 although he did think the Lakers needed another big man,
 he doubted it was Ike. The real problem with Ike is not his
 contract, its his conditioning, and very few GMs want to
 bring him in, so again, like Rod Strickland, Michael Jordan,
 may have to play the hand he bought into, and try and
 salvage Austin too. With the recent announcement that
 Danny Fortson is available from Boston, Lakers fans are
 swarming, saying he is they guy they need. So we'll see
 what happens next.
