Re: Heat play-by-play guy

Hi Mark:

Another great post.

Well I'm surely looking forward to the Denver draft pick (the longer we can wait
the better I think), but still believe we can break even on this trade without
it.

Fort seems remarkably intelligent as well as a true Carlton Fisk work ethic and
team-spirited New England type guy. Don't write him off just yet! He was fourth
in the league in rebounding at barely 23, and he can probably conjure a clear
picture of himself leading the NBA in rebounding consistently before he is
through.

Give us a couple years and this list will all be reciting Texas Gene's "one can
of whup-ass if by land (the Fort), two cans of whup-ass if by sea (Battleship
Potapenko)" post-game summaries on a pretty regular basis. If this were 1970s
style ice hockey it would be far more obvious, but the "bruise brothers" Fort
and Vitaly are already willing to carry Paul Pierce and Antoine on their
shoulders toward superstardom if they only could.

We have a basically disfunctional blend of attitude and character right now plus
a yappy lapdog coach, but I truly appreciate watching this young nucleus grind
through a difficult injury-filled first half without the slightest hint of
whining or dissension. They've left it to Internet geeks like me to bitch and
moan nonstop for them. They've kept trying to win as a team while not letting
defeats and boos get to them and incite them into pointing fingers like scottie
pippen girlie-men. Obviously I admire the captain the most for this team
cohesion, since he's arguably the biggest racial boogie-man Boston has ever
seen.
