CHANGES

I agree there have to be changes in the Celtics. IMO it starts with Pitino. I think everyone is making too much of his past success. When you jaw too much at anyone they tune you out. I really believe that an experienced NBA coach could do alot with this team. It's not ML's mistakes that are showing here, it's Ricky's mistakes! I believe whoever said he's not a good judge of talent is right on the money. Why did he sign Walter and Battie for so much? If they'd flown the coup, so what? There were better players in the CBA.

One thing that's bothered me is why he's not played Pervis? What's he got to lose? He's a true center and he used to be able to play. His contract is gone after this year, if he gets hurt, so what? They've been paying him for years to be on the injured list, why not now? Vitally is a good power forward - he's just not a shot blocker. I believe there's room for him on this team, but they still need a true center who can block shots.

I don't want to hear any more about Pitino's "system". It doesn't work in the NBA. Fast break basketball, long passes up the court, running, gunning, etc., is this team's best bet. They have the young legs to do it, and I would bet if Pitino shut up and let them play instinctively they'd win more games.

Lest you might have forgotten, those of you who saw the Celtic teams of the 80's, they were so good, they sometimes would get a big lead and stop trying, too. Sometimes they waited too long and were beaten. It used to make me very angry. It happens to very, very good teams, so it isn't a surprise that it happens to this one, that has a long way to go before they can be classified as very good.

As for Rodman, I'm with Tommy. He's nothing but a crazy idiot and a disgrace to basketball. I don't care how many rebounds he gets. The only reason he came back to the NBA is because without it, nobody was paying any attention to him.

I certainly am glad baseball is starting. Didn't think I'd ever see the day I'd say that.
