NEWSPAPERS

If Pitino doesn't read the newspapers or listen to the media, as he claims, how did he know he was catching flak for the Fortson trade? I can't imagine telling your son not to read the papers.

At the bank where I work, the Celtics used to be talked about all the time, back in the better days. I have two posters, framed, of the Celtics on the basketball floor - which include players such as Reggie. I brought them to the bank years ago and they hang in the conference room of the commercial loan department where I am the secretary. They still attract people who come there for the first time - they look them over carefully, picking out the players they remember. When I leave the bank I'll take them home with me.

My point is, nobody talks about them now and the guys there once were big Celtic fans. Are the people on this list among a dying breed?

For what it's worth, I believe Pitino directs every facet of the Celtics and nobody (except Gaston) does anything without his approval. He's always reminded me of a professor I once had who used to say "there's only one way to do things in this class and that's my way". Well, his way isn't working. The first mistake he made was letting the good players we had go, namely Wesley and Fox. I said so at that time and I've always believed it. This young group would have benefited greatly playing with them - they had the experience and the right attitude.

Anyway, I never wanted Rick Pitino to coach the Celtics, and I was right. I'm not gloating - it's too painful to see. I just hope something happens soon to turn things around because we have some very good players that will get better with the right coach. Flame away if you will.
