WEEI Asks: Will Pitino Survive The Season?

Well, it was Glen Ordway actually that questioned
whether Pitino will survive the season, as Glen noted,
it doesn't look like with the changes Pitino made over
the summer, that the Celtics are a playoff team.

I find it difficult to believe, with the amount of money still owed to
Pitino -- $29 million at last check, decreasing down to $22 million
after the upcoming season -- and the financial restraints allegedly
borne by CEO Paul Gaston, that Pitino would be fired.  And I
can't see Pitino just walking away from the Celtics job - $7 million
per year gigs are hard to find.  So, the Celtics and Pitino,
playoffs or no playoffs, seem feted to each other, at least until,
Pitino agrees to a buyout at less dollars or the Celtics are sold...
