Delayed 24 hours because of contractual considerations, the four-team
deal involving the Celtics, Golden State, Dallas and Utah is expected to
be officially announced today.

As reported in yesterday's Herald, the Celtics will receive Robert Pack,
John ``Hot Rod'' Williams, cash and one of Utah's two first-round draft
picks next year in exchange for Danny Fortson and Dana Barros. Golden
State's take in the convoluted deal is Fortson and Utah's Adam Keefe,
while the Jazz get Donyell Marshall from the Warriors and Bruno Sundov
from Dallas.

The Mavericks' role was to produce Pack, Williams and $3 million for the
Celtics, while receiving Barros, Howard Eisley (from Utah) and Bill
Curley (from Golden State). Dallas' three acquisitions are Boston
College products and would represent a quarter of its roster. But Barros
could be ticketed elsewhere.

The deal, which involves 10 players and includes four free agents, was
hammered out late Monday night. The holdup was while Sundov, 20, a
promising 7-foot-3 center from Croatia, received a new contract from
Utah. Sundov's Boston-based agent, Frank Catapano, said last night he
had worked out a three-year package for his client.
