Where They Will Be Next Season
Walter McCarty - 2nd Division Rio de Janeiro Slums League. The less said
the better.
Antoine Walker - If the C's have a real GM by that time, I'd say trade him,
but if the Curse of the Pitino is still present, it's best to keep his
overrated self, than giving him away for perhaps nothing like the Mercer
deal. It will be wonderful once again during the off season to hear
about him working out in Chicago, while the majority of his teammates
stay in the Boston area. Can't wait for those weekly reports of Toine
from the health club, and then having him come into camp at 255 pounds.
Kenny Anderson - 3rd guard off the bench providing scoring. Lack of assists
and defense means he doesn't cut it as a win-a-championship type of point
guard, but he could be great as a reserve. Of course, he'll bitch like hell,
over a bench role, but success is a choice.
Danny Fortson - Keep Bitch Boy only around long enough for a signand trade.
Fortson thinks he should be a starter, but he's so one-dimensional, his
nickname should be dot. How bad is it when you have Antoine Walker yelling
at Fortson to get with it? Pretty bad. Fortson is a malingerer who's never
accomplished all that much on the NBA level. Look at the records of the
Denver and Boston teams he's been on. If he had an attitude adjustment and
accepted the fact that he's a reserve with one great appreciable skill level,
he'd be worth keeping, since his singular skill is always in demand.
Paul Pierce - Stagnant and most likely has tuned out Pitino. Would be a
better player minus Walker, Pitino, and Anderson. Not sure what you do with
him, but with Evil Duce still around, you don't want him traded. Hopefully,
he'll be self motivated to improve his defense in the off season.
Vital Potapenko - He'd be a fine backup center on a contending team. He'd
also might be salvageable, if he was playing alongside a shot blocking/
rebounding power forward like Stromile Swift or Tim Duncan. But it's a
mismatch with Walker and him. If the C's could package Vitaly and this
year's pick to move up in the draft a few spaces to take one of the
young centers and the other team's cap crap, I'd do it.
Calbert Cheaney - He's one of the few Celtics who at least attempts
to play defense and that's admirable. What isn't kosher is the fact,
that if C's had done a better job, they could have come up witha lot
cheaper alternative than him - someone just making the NBA minimum.
Trade him if they can, if not, just let the contract run out.
Eric Williams - A decent 8th or 9th man who's tragically overpaid.
Another Pitino cap albatross or Alcatraz around the Celtics neck,
who's not going anywhere soon.
Tony Battie - Has the dedication to the game of basketball as a
slug. You wonder why he only shows up every one out of four games,
well, how about those reports of him in Stretch-Pimpmobiles with the
Hos? More interested in partying than basketball - Since Pitino
travels with the team, you think he might have picked up on this
before giving him a long term contract, but alas he must have been
too busy throwing his underwear on the floor for Jersey Red to pick up.
Battie's a dog and will be bow wowing in Boston for many years to
come.
Doug Overton - Who cares, he's gone.
Adrian Griffin - Rest, relaxation, developing a shooting touch,
we cut him some slack.
Pervis Ellison - Na na, hey hey, good bye. He's off to Amsterdam.
Dana Barros - I'd just dump him, but the reality is, he's taking up
cap space for another season.
Greg Minor - See Barros comment.
Rick Pitino - If Pitino flack Will McDonough says he's coming back,
he's probably coming back. The WWF becomes more appealing.
Malcolm in the Middle is pretty good. I love South Park.
Tom Green is entertaining. Star Trek Voyager is coming back to
the Alpha Quadrant. There will be plenty of viewing alternatives
to the Celtics in next season's crusade by Pitino to have the
C's become the Philadelphia 76's.
