The Way We Hear It
Boston CelticsNovember 22, 1999There may not be a single soul in all of Boston right now who doesn't love Adrian Griffin, and that includes Celtics coach Rick Pitino. Griffin, a CBA refugee who impressed the Celtics enough over the summer and in camp to earn a roster spot, was leading the team in minutes (37.1 pg), rebounding (8.4), shooting (.549) and steals (2.6) through Nov. 21. His hustle and toughness also illustrate the many differences between this year's team and last year's. But does all of that guarantee Griffin a starting job when Danny Fortson returns from injury? The way we hear it, not exactly. But one team observer says Griffin's minutes shouldn't change much after Fortson comes back. In fact, word is it's Antoine Walker who will be on the spot. Though Walker's numbers haven't been bad, his play still has been erratic and many of his tendencies immature.
