Daniel...Since you referenced my post, I assume you were addressing the
points I was making. I'm not blaming Pierce for the losses, I'm not calling
him "The Problem," and I don't think my post posits either of those things.
What I do question is his toughness...his heart...whether he really is
hurt, at least hurt "that badly"...and what his priorities are, that is,
winning or looking good. Can you say the same for other players on the
team? Be my guest. However, for two years now this list has been
looking...no, BEGGING for a high character saint-like player to come in and
"please...be better than Walker and be the REAL leader who can drag us out
of the quagmire of mediocrity and selfishness that Walker has placed us
in." I've read the Saint Mercer posts during the off-season when a rap star
helped choreograph a leadership role in the press for "Ron the Humble." I
wondered how it would've flown if it were Antoine. I constantly read the
Saint Ron posts all last year when everybody was "convinced," not guessing
mind you, but absolutely "convinced" that Ron was the smart one...the real
talent...the future all-star...and now people are wondering if he'll ever
be consistent? Will he be the "third all-star" that Pitino assumes the team
needs to win? Two names come to mind in answer to that question...Ray Allen
and Latrell Sprewell. I kept wondering how anybody could've thought Ron
Mercer was a lock for "Boy Leader" and future all-star when the guy simply
can't hit a three to save his life and now I wonder if his "three attack"
of the other night wasn't Ron playing for his next salary against Ray
Allen? I don't think that's unfair by the way. We certainly got a ton of
those posts during Walker's high scoring games against other players last
year. Oh...I also wonder if you think Pitino is ripping that defensive
wizard Mercer in the locker room these days...or do you just let the fact
that other shooting guards have been ripping him every night go
unchallenged because Ron's ego is so.....fragile? Where have I read that
before..in reference to whom...and asked in a rhetorical and derogatory
manner? You wonder how anyone can "complain" about a rookie like Pierce? I
wonder how anyone can determine that he's the saviour, untradeable, the
real leader, the answer to "all our problems and if only Antoine could play
like him. Let's trade the cancer,"... I was wondering how anybody could
say any of that about Pierce with such assurance after less than 25 games?
Again...convinced...not hoping or guessing...but "convinced." The press put
the burden on him? No...the press and Pitino might be just beginning to
wonder why he's crying and feeling sorry for himself and not playing
through a difficult period. Just a question. Look...Walker might not be the
leader that you all want. Fine...trade him. But from what I've seen of this
team, if it aint Antoine...it aint anybody currently on the roster. Dan you
ask, "Will Pierce flourish in the Celtic environment?" I'm not really sure
what "Celtic environment" means, but after 22 games, let me point out that
if you think "Yesssssssss" is a fair and legitimate answer to that
question, from what I've seen, the answer might just as legitimately be
"Elden Campbell." And if you want to know what that means....see the
beginning of this post. I look forward to seeing all the changes Rick's
going to make come July 1. Oh....by the way...concerning this little
rant...this is a very young team. Youth sucks......I wish.
