RIGHT ON!

I'm with Theresa 100%. We finally have a group of young players with great
potential. All this trade talk at this point makes no sense. We need a
backup point guard, so what happens if you trade Kenny? Then we have none,
or if we get a draft pick and it's a point guard we have a rookie point
guard who won't be NBA ready and we're worse off than before. Since I've
been forced to watch the telecast of the other team on DirecTV instead of
our own on many nights (which is preferable to not being able to see the
game at all, I'll grant you) I've found it very interesting to hear them
talk about our young team. They for the most part think highly of them -
Walker, Mercer and Pierce. They also speak of Kenny with admiration. They
say Kenny will be better than ever next year after a regular training camp.
They all love Mercer's shot, and so do I. He may or may not develop the 3
pointer, and I don't care.
It's used too much anyway - and the younger players throw up too many of
them and make too few of them. Pierce was a steal and he's going to get
better and better. I think he'll be one of the true stars in the league
because he has it all, can do it all. He's a rookie. Much of the time, you
wouldn't know it.

I've rambled, I'm afraid, but we have the makings of a fine team. You do
not win a championship at this stage of the game with young players.
They'll get better and better, and someday you'll be glad if they're kept
together and we'll have another team like the Bird teams of the 80's.
That's one thing the NBA wanted to encourage with the new CBA. To allow
teams to keep their teams together, isn't it?
