Did you see the Jersey/Minny/Milwaukee trade?? Jersey gives up Cassell and
Gatling (both of whom they were unhappy with anyway) and get Stephon Marbury!
Cassell and Gatling go to Milwaukee, who deals Terrell Brandon to the Twolves.

I think this is a steal for the Nets. I'm shocked McHale would deal Marbury,
since he and Garnett are supposed to be such good buds. Marbury had recently
said he wanted to stay in MN and win championships, but that apparently was a
smokescreen - ESPN reports he turned down a 6 year extension from the Wolves
last week. He's saying now he'll sign an extension with Jersey. I wonder how
Garnett will react; it's ironic, because if they'd made this trade earlier
they could have kept Googs. Brandon is a good player, but ... Not a potential
superstar, let's say, though maybe steadier than Marbury.

It's a good deal for Milwaukee too, since they were unhappy with Brandon and
he'd already said he was going to look elsewhere. I'm not sure where Gatling
will play with Ty Hill and Tractor Traylor on the team.

ESPN is also reporting on the Potapenko/DeQ rumor, so maybe this has legs. The
more I think about it, the more I like it, so long as it's not a '99 #1 pick.
