When I read about this trade this morning I rushed to work and headed for
the prozac jar. Then I got on-line and read the Pitino quote in Holley's
article, something about Walker is "probably" right if he thinks he needs
to take a lot of shots for the team to win. Then I remembered Pitino's
quote about players missing "open shots from 15ft. and in," against
Charlotte. Walker goes 13-24...Kenny and Barros shoot a combined 4-24 (I'm
just guessing) and Antoine's "probably" right!?! So let me get this
straight, just so I'm on the same page with Chuck Person....if Pierce is
shooting 0-whatever and the team only has two other players who don't send
you reaching for your rosary every time they heave one up, I want Walker to
stop shooting. You know...he's right. I for one love the "you identify
players who can score and then make sure they pass the ball" philosphy of
basketball. So...let me see...they want to trade for Potapenko so he
can...shoot! All right! Chuck Person's right. The more players who can't
make shots, who have zero offensive game...the better. Look at the Lakers.
Man...they just don't believe in putting scorers on the floor. They wanted
Declercq, Riley, Barros, Bowen, McCarty, Jones, Anderson...you get the
idea...but Pitino just had to say "no" because...you can never have too
many stiffs at the offensive end.

So...let's hope Vitaly stays right where he is.
