The Draft

Ok, this is my 1st post to the group, and I'll admit, I started
following the Celtics because of Walker, Mercer, and Pitino. What can I
say, I bleed blue. Anyway, many on this list suggest drafting a backup
point guard to replace Anderson with in the future. I this idea makes
sense to me, assuming they can't land a possible big man in the draft
which is highly unlikely. Given this fact, Id like to nominate Wayne
Turner as the potential draft pick. He will likely be the best point
guard around by the time the Celtics draft, then again Im biased. Before
you all start ranting, and saying "this guy is just some UK nut", listen
for just a second. This Celtic's team has plenty of offensive threats, I
don't think anyone could argue that. I nominate Turner for three
reasons. He is a TRUE point guard, he is a great defensive player, and
he is a physical player. Also note, that Turner is traditionally a very
good ball handeler, he's just had a bad year. Also, consider the factor
that Turner is one of those players that just knows how to win.
Two more things to mention, Turner is the all time Steals leader at UK,
and with a win in the 1st round in the tourny friday, Turner will set a
new record for most games played in college by a player sunday. The only
game Turner did not play in at UK was the 96' championship game, in
which Epps went the whole 40 minutes.
