RE: don't start

Here again is the best reason for being on this list; insight from someone
at a game, practice, etc. I am sure Jim I would have been as upset as you
watching Walker daydreaming. My 7 year old is in his first year of
organized ball, and I tell him the most important thing to do while playing
in the game is to pay attention. Sure kids at this age have their minds in
a thousand different areas, but when the ball is in play, pay attention. He
is doing fairly well, averaging over 5 steals, a couple blocks and boards a
game. He gets very agitated at pro games, acting like some junior coach,
and Mr. Walkers behavior would probably catch even his eye. A true Captain
in the 90's sense of the word, right!

Again reminds me of a quote from LB; "There is nothing I can't stand more
than seeing a teammate watching the ball go out of bounds". Pay attention
Celtic Captain Walker.

About tanking games or the season, give me a break. If this is your style
of play, for one game or a season, go follow the Clippers or Marlins; we
need winners on our bandwagon.

Two last quotes from Celtic coaches;

Auerbach (1990) "We're not interested in being competitive, We're interested
in winning"

Ford (1990) "In Boston we have sophisticated fans. Their only concern is if
you hang a banner up at the end of the year"

And we don't mean no stinking divisional or conference banners. Unless you
don't feel the same way, take a hike.

Later,
Greg

(I was at the Denver game and watched Walker walk out on the court last
for the opening tip, so everyone would stand there waiting for him. (It
was calculated, IMO) and then in the first few minutes he was standing
talking/joking with E. William's, at about the 35-40 yard line, with his
back to the basket during a FT attempt which when missed left Walker out
of position on the fast break.) (LB would have made the coach pull
Walker off the court for that baloney! I mean really, is it to much to
ask that they pay attention when they are on the court?)
