I saw Kostas Maglos several times when he played at Boston College.  I
didn't understand why he chose to forego his senior year of eligibility to
play in Europe (he's originally from Greece) because he seemed like a
legitimate NBA prospect (emphasis on "prospect").  Any recollections
from those closer to Mecca (aka Beantown)?

If I recall correctly, he's 6-10, about 240 pounds, and has nice offensive
ability.  Nothing earthshattering, but certainly he'd be a good pickup with
the #55 selection.
