Warwick's piece

Hey Warwick - a few thoughts on your piece at Bob George's page. Please take
these as constructive criticism or salutory disagreement (did I just write
that?), not as an effort to disparage your work:

1) If Andre Miller really were the player RP has been dreaming of, he would
never have traded the pick for Vitaly. Everyone knew what Miller could do and
that it was a reasonable possibility he could fall to the 8th pick. (FWIW, I
see the draft going Odom, Francis, Brand, Davis, Szerbiak, Miller, Hamilton,
Bender.) I agree, however, that Andre would have been a good fit for the team
-- the question is, would he have filled our greatest need, which was at
center? I would rather have Vitaly and Kenny than DeClercq and Miller. It's
been said here before -- given the league-wide paucity at point guard, this
team still could do a lot worse than Kenny Anderson, and should work with what
we have.

2) Yeah, the team improved at the end of the season after Kenny went down. It
also improved at the end of LAST season after Kenny came over from Toronto,
before he went on IR. So what's that prove? Is the same team that was better
with Kenny suddenly better without him? Or is it that, at the end of the
season, other teams don't care as much, or our team is finally jelling, or a
number of other theories?

I would be happy to acquire Miller if the price were right, but realistically
I don't expect that to happen. Rather, I expect us to make a terrible trade
involving Ron Mercer. Oops, different topic ...
