Warwick,
Did you see this. We have argued before whether you can sign and trade 
someone else's player. Don't want to beat a dead horse but this seems to 
imply that their isn't a timelimit for signing someone else's free agent. It 
would be nice if someone had a web site for the CBA...

 connected to whether the NBA and Players Association issue the new rule
 change about the time frame in which a player can be traded, currently a
 free agent cannot be traded until after 6 months with his new team, unless
 its a sign and trade deal, and that only effects a current teams free agent.
 The new rule (which is expected in the next few weeks) would reduce the time
 period to 3 months, and allow Phoenix and other teams to trade players they
 signed after the lockout.
