Walker for Baker-I hope so

The lastest rumors have Walker possibly going to the Sonics for Vin Baker in
a sign and trade. A Walker for Baker deal would be great for the Celts. He
fits perfectly in the starting power forward position and allows Battie to
be the 6th man, relieving VP and Baker in Camby-esque style. The need to
trade Mercer would diminish as the logjam for starting 2 and 3 minutes would
be resolved. However, this puts alot of money in every starting position.
Anderson may be to be moved to make Gaston happy. If you didn't worry about
paying the bills and forgetting Anderson's lack of defense, this lineup is
awesome.

Baker had a awesome regular season when first traded to the Sonics. He
didn't fare as well in the playoffs that year, as teams double and triple
teamed him. Plus, in the playoffs he was forced into playing what all power
forwards hate, the center position. This guy is a natural power forward who
can play some center. He has some wonderful post moves but doesn't provide
much bang. They needed a banger in the playoffs and blamed the loss on
Baker. Baker has never been fortunate enough to play with a center. Last
year he was out of shape so throw it away. (Walker was also out of shape
last year.) I think it is a equal trade as Baker is better than Walker now
but Walker could be that good in a couple of years, possibly better and has
a tremendous will to win (as long as he is making the big plays).

Baker has to balk at resigning with the Sonics, however, to make this work.
We would probably have to send Barros back to Seattle also to make the money
right. They know him as he started his NBA career there...
