Yeah, I thought that too, but consider: at the time the Battie/Trav trade
happened, Jerry West was still trying to send Campbell to the Wolves or Kings.
Those deals aren't happ'nin now, so JW might be willing to look elsewhere. For
all we know, Pitino might have floated the idea when the first trade went
down. (Or not.)

If Pitino wanted Elden, it seems like he would have worked him into the 
Knight deal.  Knight, Barros and Minor, for example.  Campbell was 
certainly available.  Especially considering that Travis was the Celtics 
player the Lakers wanted most.  I can see both ends of the argument 
myself, but I just don't think Pitino wants him.
