It sure is. I remember listers clamoring for Travis Knight before he was
signed. His contract is peanuts had he worked out - look at what Philly paid
Geiger & Ratcliff! I also remember the Mills acquisition being applauded.
Everyone was shocked at the Williams deal because of the return but there may
have been other underlying reasons for it and as for the nameless teams that
would have given us more - who are they? If they truly existed could it be
that they were division rivals and Pitino didn't want have EW come back to
haunt him? As for Massenburg his stats showed him to be a Popeye type player
for a fraction of what we signed Popeye for. Even Red was in favor of bringing
him back. Disappointments happen but when you can take those disappointments
and make something out of them (Battie, McCarty, & part of the package for
Anderson) then you are on the right track. With what the FA centers signed for
this year, we still would have only had enough cap space to land a Stewart
(and Battie may be as good) or a Longley. Austin "settled" for $5 million a
year from Orlando because he wanted to play there. Geiger & Ratcliff (the
merits of each which were questioned by many list members) got millions more
for long term. Polynice? I could see him going AWOL after a month of Pitino
practices.

This is going to be a fun team that may make the playoffs - a team that will
only get better with experience.

Put me on the list of fans who would like to bring back Douglas if we could
get him for one of our exemptions. Our offense fell apart last year when KA
went down and Sherman did a good job in NJ when Cassel got hurt. Calipari is
upset with management that they didn't resign Douglas instead of Murdoch. With
Minor's ankle problems, Barros may see time at the 2 and Garnett is a 2 guard
learning to play the point. An Anderson injury would be a disaster!
