This summer

FA centers this summer are Ilgauskas, Erick Dampier, Vin Baker (if you count
him) in the top tier (all a virtual lock to be re-signed by their current
teams before they can get away); Lorenzen Wright; and then a bunch of guys
like Scott Williams, JR Reid, Andrew Lang, Felton Spencer, Potapenko, Roy
Rogers, Samaki Walker, Greg Foster and Vrancovic. No David Robinsons in there,
but maybe one of them could help us. One guy who was slated to be a FA this
summer was Priest Lauderdale, who Denver just cut; he's got a huge body, but
if the Nugs are cutting him he can't be much.

How much money we'll have is a real question. We're right up against the cap
now, and the only real cap relief we'll have (barring a trade) is about $950K
when Dontae Jones rolls off. Wait, we might also be getting $2.5 million from
Dino Radja, I hope. And then, the cap itself is set to rise by ca. $4 million.
What I don't know is how Walker's new contract will affect all this. Say we
get $7 mil in cap room; if Toine's new deal starts at $7 mil, will be be right
back where we started, with no cap room?
