As an aside to those living in condos, or apartments, you can now get the
small dishes. As of 1/22/99, the FCC declared that landlords or
homeowners associations could not prevent people from getting a
satellite, as long as it's less than 3' in diameter (no size limit in
Alaska). You don't need permission to install it. The only
prohibitions allowed are for historical buildings, or safety
issues.
If you're interested, go
to www.fcc.gov for the
"Second Report and Order" (it's the one specifying renters) and
it's CS Docket No. 96-83 of FCC 98 273. The effective
date (along with Q&A about the matter can be found at the
"FCC
Fact Sheet/Over the Air Reception Rule" for those of you
researching the possibility of getting NBA games via DTV. Also,
Direct TV has a special running for the abbreviated NBA season.
Need I mention I got mine installed today? Very Happy Beagle.
No more Cox Cable. YAY!
