NBC Nitpicking

Any of you watching today's Rockets-Fakers game might have heard a remark
made by Bob "Baseball is my first love" Costas. NBC, now the new shill for
the Fakers (step aside, Notre Dame), continues to kiss Faker butt with
Costas' remark that, while seeing Dennis Electra at the free throw line and
MJ in the audience, "Rodman is one of only three men in the NBA with six
rings...there's the other (MJ), and the third is...also in this
game...Scottie Pippen!" He began this remark with a throw away line,
"Except for those players who played during the Celtic dynasty,..."

I have a major problem with that. This embodies NBC's infatuation with the
Fakers, Kobe, Shaq, and now Mr. Electra. NBC is more about hip and cool
than substance, and they always have been. Costas is Mr. Hyperbole, Marv
Albert was a wiseguy before he became a sex fiend, Ahmad Rashad is a jerk,
Mike Breen is a total cad (have you ever heard him on "Imus In The
Morning"?), it almost seems that Dick Enberg, their one true quality
broadcaster, doesn't fit into the corporate scheme. Rather than pay the
Celtics their due homage, they choose to advance their continued hype of
the Fakers.

Well, screw NBC and all these guys with only six rings. May I, Bob George,
proudly read off the Celtic Honor Roll for all the world to stand up and
take notice!

Bill Russell, 11 rings
Sam Jones, 10 rings
Tom Heinsohn, 8 rings
John Havlicek, 8 rings
KC Jones, 8 rings
Satch Sanders, 8 rings
Frank Ramsey, 7 rings
Jim Loscutoff, 7 rings
Bob Cousy, 6 rings

Red Auerbach, 16 rings

Maybe that's why the NBA is unlikeable today. With this legacy, who's
there to impress you the Celtic fan?

Your history lesson for today,

Bob George
