Re: Now THAT's more like it

It certainly does look like Paul Pierce is going to be a very good player.
In four games, he has averaged around 18 points and 10 rebounds. He's also
had quite a few steals and some blocked shots. In crunch time vs the Cavs,
he was very impressive. Considering that Mercer, Declerq, Popeye, and
McCarty did not play tonight, one has to be thankful for the W. Even with
those players sitting out, we still out rebounded the Cavs by a significant
margin. After the game, Pitino singled out two players for their
contributions: Riley and Bowen. I have to agree. Riley wasn't dominant by
any means, but he did make his presence felt, particularly on the boards.
Pitino did characterize him as a project, but he feels that he's a real
"find." As time goes by and Riley learns the system and gets into "Pitino"
condition, he could indeed turn out to be a find. I'm hopeful. As for
Bruce Bowen, he played a hell of a game. He was tenacious on defense and
played a ton of minutes. Finally, while the win was kind of ugly, it was a
win. That we won without Mercer, Popeye, Declerq, and McCarty over a team
that many of the pundits have down as a better team than the Cs (and one
that needed a win having lost their opener too), is certainly encouraging.
