The Next Dynasty

	If you would have told me that evening June 7, 1986 that in the next 13 
years, two of our finest superstars would die tragic deaths, that the Garden 
would fall to the wrecking ball, that our greatest sons would go on to lead 
other teams to greater heights, that our fine point guard would pull a knife 
on his wife, that we would move into a sterile, corporate-named stadium, 
that jordan would go on to win 3 titles and then San Antonio would give them 
rodman so he could win 3 more. . .If you would have told me then that the 
Chief would wear a bulls' uniform and win a ring with the bastards, that ML 
would name himself coach and then be run out of town. . .If you would have 
told me then that the most dominant team heading into the next century would 
be the lakers led by shaq and phil jackson. . .If you would have told me 
that then, I probably would have stopped following the Celts (and had a 
happier decade).
	Yet through it all, I know we're almost there (tough to believe right now, 
isn't it?)  Remember at Bird's press conference in '79 when Auerbach, the GM 
of a team that had just gone 21-61 said with a smile, "You all don't realize 
it but, one or two more players, and we're right back in it."?  Realize, it 
will be all the more rewarding when we win the title after going through all 
this, and all the more sweet when it will be Antoine and Pierce, Fortson and 
Pitino who make it happen.  It will be all the better knowing you were one 
of the fans who stayed with them.
	We're close.  I can see that Auerback glint again and it's in Pitino's eye. 
  He realizes how close we are.  Keep the Faith.
