x-post, meaningless information
This is a cross post I received of meaningless information:
Celtics godfather Red Auerbach coached the Quad City team before moving
to St. Louis and then to Boston (i think that was the history) . . . i
learned of his part in Quad City basketball from an old man at a Denny's
in Moline Illinois some years ago.
So it is ironic in a way that the Celts are picking up the dude out of
Quad City Thunder and dumping Conlon and a nice coincidence that both
Thomas and Conlon played for Providence as undergraduates.
(AP) - The Boston Celtics signed free-agent Jamel Thomas and
released Marty Conlon on Monday. The moves involving the two
former Providence College forwards came a day after guard Paul
Pierce was placed on the injured list because of a sprained
ankle. Thomas averaged 19.9 points in 10 games this season for
Quad City in the CBA. Conlon was active for just one game this
season, but didn't play in Sunday night's loss to New York. He
was on the injured list for the first 18 games because of a
sprained toe.
