"Insiders say that because of his versatility, Adrian Griffin has
changed the Celtics' ideas about their wants and needs
personnel-wise. Some even believe Griffin's hustle and intelligent
play-the kind Boston coaches have been trying and usually failing to
impart on their young charges-have also changed the Celtics' ideas
about the kind of player they're interested in."

Not sure what this is supposed to mean. Maybe the Celtics will try
to pursue brains and hustle over pure athleticism?

"We're sure you've heard the rumors: Something like Antoine Walker and
Vitaly Potapenko to Philadelphia for Theo Ratliff and Larry Hughes. Or
maybe a package of Celts to Washington for Rod Strickland. Sounds like
Rick Pitino's got that itchy trigger finger again, right? Wrong. We
hear the Celtics haven't even discussed a trade with the Sixers, and
although the team is somewhat keen on the idea of severing ties with
Walker, it's more likely that Pitino will wait and see what he's got
over the next few months. Remember, Danny Fortson will be back next
month, and Pitino thinks it will be another month after that before
Fortson's back to his old self. As a result, Boston could be a much
tougher, deeper team as early as March. Does that mean Pitino won't
listen if another chatty personnel man gives him a call to talk shop?
Of course not."

Evidently Walker is essentially untradable due to BYC considerations
anyways, although that will become less of a constraint after the
season ends.

Other notable quotes:

"Word out of the Mile High City is Nuggets coach Dan Issel would like
swingman Ron Mercer to cut down on his number of shots and start
passing the ball more."

Surprise surprise.
