What about ...
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Center Rony Seikaly, who played just 18 games for the New
Jersey Nets following an ill-fated trade, was waived Tuesday.
Seikaly, 34, was acquired from the Orlando Magic on
Feb. 19, 1997, just days
after he vetoed a trade to the Utah Jazz. He played
in just nine of 24 games
thereafter, sitting out with a bone bruise in his
right foot.
In the lockout-shortened 1998-99 season, Seikaly
played just 88 minutes over nine
games. He was sidelined by a sprained left ankle and
plantar fasciatis.
The Nets were the fourth team for the 6-foot-11
Seikaly, an 11-year veteran who
has career averages of 14.7 points and 9.5 rebounds
and needs nine points for
10,000 in his career. He was the first draft pick of
the Miami Heat, going ninth overall in 1988.
Although Seikaly recently scored 36 points in a game
for his native Lebanon, he did not figure into
the Nets' future plans.
Seikaly's another bad attitude guy, but if he's healthy and if he'd sign for
$2 mil, he could be a heck of a bench pickup. Thoughts?
