As long as we can continue with an intelligent discussion on the subject, I
think the exact word you used was "resident veteran".  Regardless of the
semantics, my point is that you have very lofty expectations of a young man
who has done a fine job amid some turbulent periods.  If you feel he is not
worth it, just who do you expect to receive in a trade for him?

I also think it is absolutely unfair to judge him on one performance when
the team is missing other key ingredients.  I'm sure that with Walker
unavailable, the Pistons may have been able to concentrate their defensive
strategy on keeping Mercer under control, as well as Pierce.
