'Toine time: Boston's
Antoine Walker silenced
the boos Friday by
banking in a
three-pointer to beat
Miami, but there's talk
in Boston that the
Celtics might look to
deal the Mt. Carmel High
product. Walker has
complained about the
booing, and coach Rick
Pitino has asked fans to
lay off the often
arrogant Walker.
But after a loss to
Atlanta last week, Walker
began to question his
place, suggesting Pitino
was now using Ron Mercer
as the No. 1 option.
"Maybe I'm not the type
of player Boston fans
want," Walker said. "How
would you feel if you
were out there trying
hard and you're getting
booed every time you miss
a shot? I'm still trying
to figure out what my
role is on this team.
"I enjoy being the No. 1
option. But
unfortunately, it's not
that way this year. So I
have to figure out what
my role is going to be."
It's not a happy group in
Boston. Former Celtic Dee
Brown, now with Toronto,
describes Raptors rookie
sensation Vince Carter as
"the most humble guy I've
ever met, the exact
opposite of Antoine."
