NEW YORK -- Bill Russell gives a pep talk and
the Celtics go out and defeat
the Wizards 108-87.
Two nights later, Rick Pitino gives a pregame
speech, and the Celtics go out and
score only 67 points, their lowest total
since 1955, and get hammered by
Philadelphia 83-67.
No, the 41-point difference isn't a mere
coincidence.
"The message is not getting through
anymore," said one Celtic about the team
tuning out Pitino. "Guys
just don't want to listen to his stuff."
It's a good thing Pitino brought in all his
Kentucky guys, huh?
Did you hear that when rapper/agent Master P
recently went to meet with the
Celtics front office, they believed that he
was coming to talk about Ron Mercer, a
client who will be up for a contract
extension this summer.
But for close to two hours, Master P tried to
talk his way onto the team. In case
you forgot, he was in training camp with
the Hornets and has been lobbying CBA
teams for work. Part of his rap to the
Celtics was how he could make them
better.
Considering how they've done under Pitino, who's
to say no?
