Jim Baker: Pussycat Pitino Press Conferences
Nantz: Changes not out of Woods

Now a few pointed questions:
Did you swallow whole the claims
that Rick Pitino and Kenny
Anderson ``kissed and made up'' -
as did Pat Burns and Mike
O'Connell? The belief here is
absolutely no kissing was
involved (if there was, what a
story!) and you can stand by for
fallout after the Celtic season
and Bruins playoffs.
Have you noticed the pussycat
press chats aired on Fox New
England after Celtic defeats?
Only Pitino is shown (at podium),
but do hush-voiced writers
genuflect before tossing those
``softball'' questions to the C's
coach? They're enough to make
this viewer ill. Not one
challenging inquiry is heard.
How could you help but notice the
source of TV criticism depends on
who doesn't have a contractual
tie? Ch. 4's Bob Lobel is
ultra-chummy with Pitino, nails
the Red Sox and when it came to
the Burns-O'Connell blowout, he
feared Burns (his ``Pat's Peek''
subject) will bolt, also unhappy
with B's penny-pinching. ``That
would be a disaster,'' concluded
Lobel, who told O'Connell to
``just shut up.'' Incidentally,
Lobel was right. <snip>
