Regarding FA possibilites, it seems that this list is down on Geiger and
realizes that we won't be able to compete for Pippen, Gugliotta, Austin,
McDyess, etc. So how about locking up the small forward instead and
looking at LaPhonso Ellis. It could possibly fill one of our holes (SF and
C badly needed). I know he's neither a classic SF nor a classic PF but
putting him alongside Antoine gives us a great low post scorer, a decent
and athletic low post defender, competent rebounder, competent outside
shooter (to 20', not the three). I realize there are question marks--most
notably his injury history, but with our meager cap space, we're most
likely going to have to take a chance on a player with warts and hope he
blossoms. The Celts have always taken the chance on such veterans--most of
the time, we've come up with a Nelson, Silas, Tiny, or Walton. . .we've
also gotten a couple of 'Niques and Pervises. Ellis' history of injuries
might just make a great player just affordable enough for us. He's
athletic, a solid citizen, and most of all, he is a true warrior.
Rebuttals welcome.
