Mercer

The question was posed...who would you keep if you could keep just one
(Walker or Mercer)?

I think I would go with Mercer. Why? At this point in his career, Mercer is
the third leading scorer among rookies. The first two are Duncan and Van
Horn who are both two years older and are already emerging as future
superstars of the league. Imagine how good Mercer will be in two years!
Then there are the intangibles....the quiet confidence....the former high
school player of the year....this guy knows success, and none of it has
gone to his head. He will be a steady force for years to come. He will
consistently score 20 in this league for years to come. He will be noted as
a steady, wise, good teammate who any coach or player would love to have on
their team. He has tremendous value to the Celtics for those and other
reasons.

Don't get me wrong....let's keep both, but if I'm in the foxhole.....I'd
want Ron by my side. Antoine might get me killed or he might save my life
in a spectacular fashion. Ron will sacrafice his life for mine. It's just a
sense I get.
