Oh Bleep: Bibby Is Dropping, My Draft Is Shot To Hell

According to Michael Holley in today's Boston Globe, Mike Bibby is
dropping and here's what he says:

"Every year a team throws off the order of the draft, and that is already
happening. Arizona point guard Mike Bibby, who many predicted would be the top
pick, apparently could fall to as low as seventh or eighth. Instead, the
Clippers are interested in taking Pacific center Michael Olowokandi with the
first pick. Vancouver may be interested in dealing its way out of the No. 2
slot, and Raef LaFrentz, whom Pitino praised last season, is tumbling out of
the top five, too.

"'This is one of the most intriguing drafts that I've seen in a while,' Pitino
said. But it's also a starless draft. So might the Celtics still be
interested in trading their pick?

"'I would trade the pick - with other players - if we could get one or two
players that we feel stand out,' Pitino said.

"Any chance of revealing who these players are, Coach?

"'No,' he said with a laugh."

In other news, Holley reports that Pitino: "dismissed a rumor that the Celtics
are prepared to reassign or fire several employees after July 1. 'The Boston
Celtics are status quo,' he said.

Holley also comments on Nazr Mohammed: One name that should not be disregarded
in the draft is that of Kentucky center Nazr Mohammed. The 6-10 Mohammed knows
how to play PitinoBall and is very close to Walker. If he were there at No.
10, it would be difficult for the Celtics to pass on him. But word is that
76ers coach Larry Brown - who tormented the Celtics last season by taking Keith
Van Horne and then trading him to the Nets - is enamored of Mohammed and is
considering taking him with the eight pick."
