If Gaston is intent on not paying big bucks to players, why did he break the
bank to pay unheard of dollars to Pitino?  That contract alone suggests
that, at one time at least, he decided to pay in order to win.  And knowing
that he paid a coach that much would probably make an all-star player feel
worthy of big bucks as well.

Somebody on the list predicted this would take place when the numbers of
RPs' contract were disclosed.
