Dennis Rodman Smells And More NBA Notes - 6/8/98

Dennis Rodman Smells

That's the claim of Terry Armour who covers the Bulls for
the Chicago Tribune. As he says about Rodman: "...they should
probably urge him to shower more because the guy stinks
sometimes."

Where Will Hakeem End UP?

Rumours are rampant that the Rockets are shopping Akeem Olajuwon.
As one NBA GM told Sam Smith in a recent Chicago Tribune article:
"'He's out there... but I don't know how serious they are.'"

One deal Sam mentions is the possibility of sending him to Orlando for
Hardaway and Outlaw. A deal, that Orlando seems more intent on doing than
Houston. Smith also brings up the possibility of Latrell Sprewell ending
up with Larry Bird in Indiana. Obviously, Latrell would have a much more difficult
time choking Bird than PJ Carlesimo. Any ways, Indiana's interest in Sprewell
arises out of the need for a athletic perimeter player.

Another rather interesting trade brought up by the Tribune columnist, concerns the
possibility of Vancouver drafting Olowokandi and then trading Bryant Reeves to
Phoenix for local British Columbia product Steve Nash. That's actually a deal that
makes sense; so there's probably no chance of it happening. Since Olajuwon
apparently loves the city of Vancouver, there's talk that, if the Grizzlies can't
re-sign Shareef, they could send him in a package deal for Akeem. Lots of rumours
floating about these days....

Webber To The Lakers

That's what Peter Vecsey proposed recently. The deal would be Webber for Eddie Jones
and Elden Campbell; and according to him, the salary cap numbers work out.

Big Daddy

George Muresan's wife Liliana just gave birth to a 21-inch baby boy named George.
