Celts enter bidding way -Reply

This would be a great trade for the Cs -- getting two legit talents for one
potential legit talent (billups) and a bunch of role players. This upcoming
draft is going to suck, so I don't mind giving up our pick even though it
should be around #10. By the year 2000, our pick should be pretty bad
anyway (hopefully).

I don't think that Camby is a starting center, but unless Ellison is healthy,
he would have to be. Our best lineup would be:

5) Ellison
4) Camby
3) Walker
2) Mercer
1) Stoudamire

With a decent amount of depth on the bench in Barros, Williams, Bowen,
and Thomas.

Bottom line is that Walker would have a legit post threat to deflect the
defensive pressure away from him, the team would have a legitimate
shot blocker to allow them to press more, with Walker, Camby, and
Stoudamire as the first three scoring options, Mercer would be open a lot
more and I think he would being to truly shine, and most of all we would
have a true point guard.

The Celtics have entered the bidding war for the services of Damon
Stoudamire.

I saw a report on ESPN international 2 about it.

Celtics have reportedly made a massive trade offer being

We get: Stoudamire, Camby, Williams
We give: Billups, Knight, Minor, DeClercq, Rogers, 2 first round draft
picks (this one and 00) and 4 2nd round draft picks.

I dont know if this is a good trade or not.

The team would be

 C- Camby Ellison Thomas
PF- Walker McCarty Camby Thomas
SF- Williams McCarty Bowen Walker Camby
SG- Mercer Bowen Williams Barros Brown Jones
PG- Stoudamire Edney Barros Bowen

Salary situation
----------------
Free agent year
98: Edney, Stoudamire
99: Camby, Bowen, Jones, McCarty, Walker
00: Ellison, Mercer, Thomas
01: Barros, Brown
02: Williams

Salary details for next season (all are approximates)

Team- $23,900,424
Williams: $4,000,000
Brown: $3,500,000
Barros: $3,400,000
Ellison: $2,000,000
Camby: $3,359,088
Walker: $2,236,896
Mercer: $2,121,984
McCarty: $1,053,072
Jones: $953,856
Thomas: $768,528
Bowen: $507,000

Using a $32 mil salary cap that leaves: $8,099,576 to spend on free
agents. We sign a center and another power forward (likelihood of
Outlaw
and Longley) then re-signing Damon Stoudamire and Tyus Edney, giving
the
Celtics a lineup of:

 C- Longley Ellison Outlaw Camby
PF- Camby Outlaw McCarty Walker
SF- Walker Williams McCarty Bowen Camby Outlaw
SG- Mercer Williams Bowen Barros Brown Jones
PG- Stoudamire Edney Barros Bowen
