That is precisely my point about CB. It will take time, like it does for
every point guard to develop particular skills. He has affensive
instincts but they need refinement which only practice, patience and time
will afford.
I believe that if comparisons are drawn, it would be wise to do make them
in a game like this where he is matched up against another rookie. It's
totally unfair to measure him against the elite point guards, at this
stage of his career anyway.
Though his shooting percentage is low at the present time, his overall
game is improving. Even though he had 9 assists last night, from what I
read, he should have had at least 5 more. He can't be held responsible
for every negative thing that transpires with this team. Someone alluded
to the fact that when Mercer has an atrocious shooting performance, it
often goes unnoticed. I've noticed as well, but these are the adjustment
periods that rookies go through and he is included in that mix.
