big man

I haven't posted in a while, but I've enjoyed most of the
posts (the source of the others was kicked off the list).

I just wanted to throw my two cents worth in on the
          direction of the team.

For the most part, I don't see how any of us can possibly be
disappointed with any aspect of this team's performance. It
already has been a fun season, and this young team should
just get better and better. I wouldn't be disappointed if we
finish the season with the same roster we have right now.

That being said, if the rumors are true that the Celts are
after McDyess, then they should go after him hard. It is
painfully obvious that the Celtics as they are constituted
          now are woefully undersized.

I never want to focus on the draft during the season again,
but it is a fact that good big men are hard to come by once
you get past the first few picks. That being the case, the
chances are slim that we'd draft high enough to land an
          impact big man.

On the other hand, you can pick up talented players at other
          positions later in the draft.

I'd be willing to part with just about anyone except Walker
for McDyess -- Mercer included, although I lover Mercer. As
much as I'd hate to trade him, I'd do it for a player like
McDyess -- provided we pay the $$$ to re-sign McDyess after
          the season.

Any package for this kind of player is going to have to
include Mercer and Billups. My hope is, if the Celtics make
a move for McDyess, they push to have Nash included in the
          deal.

Anyway, this is the rumor that keeps popping up from
somewhat reliable sources. It's something to keep an eye on.
