Rookie All Stars Roster
=== Duncan and Van Horn highlight NBA All-Star Rookie game rosters ===
New York, NY (TSN) - San Antonio forward Tim Duncan, the top pick
in last year's NBA draft, and New Jersey forward Keith Van Horn
highlight the 16 players selected to play in the Schick Rookie game on
February 7 during the 1998 NBA All-Star Weekend.
Van Horn is leading all rookies in scoring this year at 19.4
points per game, as well as minutes played at 39.3 per contest. Duncan
is leading first-year players in rebounding at 11.4 per contest, and
is second in scoring at 17.4 points per game.
Joining Van Horn on the Eastern Conference squad are guards Derek
Anderson and Brevin Knight of Cleveland,
along with Chauncey Billups of Boston. Guard-Forward Ron Mercer
of Boston will also be on the East squad,
along with forwards Cedric Henderson of Cleveland and Tim
Thomas of Philadelphia. Center Zydrunas Ilgauskas of Cleveland rounds
out the East roster.
Teaming with Duncan on the West roster will be guards Antonio
Daniels of Vancouver, Bobby Jackson of Denver and Alvin Williams of
Portland, and forwards Danny Fortson of San Antonio and Maurice Taylor
of the LA Clippers. Houston's Rodrick Rhodes, who plays at both guard
and forward will be on the roster, along with center Michael Stewart.
The teams were chosen by a panel of media members who regularly
cover the NBA.
The game will be played in two 15-minute halves. If any of the 16
players are chosen to play in the NBA All-Star game, they will not
participate in the rookie game.
