Shot selection

Walker could definitely improve his shot selection but he's in a tough spot.
For most of the season he's been carrying the team. Because of the lack of 
other low-post options, he's had to play essentially a new position for him.
He plays huge minutes in a very tiring system. He draws double teams which 
creates offense for the rest of the team. 

If you put the pressure of carrying the team in scoring on Mercer, his shooting 
percentage would drop a lot. It's easier to shoot a better fg% when you aren't 
the primary option. This isn't to say that Walker can't improve but I think the
situation is tougher than many imagine. Definitely he could distribute better
on the break (which hopefully Anderson will take over), pass more consistently
out of double teams, which he sometimes does beautifully, and take fewer
contested three-pointers. Hopefully the development of Mercer and the addition
of Anderson will help him out, but what is really needed is another inside 
scorer so that Walker doesn't have to shoulder so much of the burden of inside
scoring.

As for Walker becoming a Karl Malone or Barkley type player, I don't see it
happening. It doesn't really fit his skills.
