Re: Ideas

I understand how you feel John. My first visit to the Garden was when
Russell, Heinsohn, Sam, KC, Satch etc. mesmerized me beyond comparison. I
know what you're going through. And I agree that a trade to strengthen the
club is an intelligent decision. But that's the chance you take with each
pending transaction. Will trading for Olden Polynice help the Celts right
now? I don't think so. Unless the help comes after the season ends. On
the court, he's no better than who we have and neither of them are at odds
with the coach. He plays more minutes than either Travis or DQ, and Travis
has 17 more blocks, while DQ has 12 more steals in far less playing time.
He averages 2 more rpg than Knight but certainly plays with far less passion
than DQ while shooting a mere 50% from the line to DQ's 61.

Now McDyess is a different story in my eyes, but not knowing what his
contract status is, I'm not willing to give up 2 potential all-stars for
him. I admit that I am fascinated by Nash, but I also know that he is not
strong defensively, and worry about how effective he'd be playing a
demanding style that RP likes. I consider it a luxury to come off the bench
to spell Jason Kidd. He also has to benefit from learning from Kidd and KJ.

I'd also, if I were advocating a trade, be more interested in Eldridge
Recasner than Ed Gray. Recasner is a diamond in the rough. I first saw him
in person several years ago during an exhibition game. I left the building
saying why have I never heard of this guy? Add to that the fact that he is
probably the best free throw shooter in the league.

My point is that you don't make a deal just for the sake of doing it. It
has to have a positive effect on your club and its chemistry and you must be
sure that the incoming players are capable of playing in yur system.
