My predictions for the Atlantic Division for the '97-'98 season
are as follows:
1. New York - One of Patrick Ewing's last years and looking for
revenge for the Miami battle.
2. Miami - Youth, a great coach, but will be unable to handle the
surging Knicks who are out for some revenge.
3. Washington - Finally a year without injuries; chemistry is
finally set. This could be there year to establish their future dominance.
4. Orlando - New Coach as well as a legend, plus Penny still in
the mix. Anderson and Scott will rebound from disappointing seasons last
year.
5. Boston - Pitino, the picks, the moves, the additions, and of
course the new and improved defense should be good enough for an
occasional upset over a Miami or a Atlanta. However, team has too little
chemistry or experience to grab any spot higher than the 5. Definitely
moving in the right direction though.
6. New Jersey - The additions plus the picks and deals should help
them simply be one step ahead of the Philadelphia 76'ers.
7. Philadelphia - More faces in new places, but will result in
more trouble than good. Larry Brown will take one of his most difficult
challenges ever. Even more of a challenge than turning the L.A. Clippers
around.
