note on Bowen

Found this on the Miami Herald Web page about mystery man Bruce Bowen.
Two things: Only one year is guaranteed and Philly and Miami both were
also interested, so things aren't as bad as they seem (i.e. 2 year
guaranteed for someone no one wanted).

Although a relative blip among off-season transactions, one of the bigger
surprises was Heat
                 bench-warmer Bruce Bowen signing a two-year, $925,000
contract -- of which $425,000 is guaranteed
                 -- with the Celtics.

Chris Wallace, formerly a Heat scout and now Celtics'
general manager, was mainly responsible for the
swingman signing with the Heat late last season after
playing in the CBA. Wallace also sold Boston
Coach Rick Pitino on giving Bowen a tryout.

Bowen was impressive in the drills and dominant in
scrimmages against more experienced free agents,
according to a league source. Bowen's price tag increased
after Philadelphia, which did not work him
out, expressed interest, as did the Heat.
