Chris Mills

Did anyone else notice the incident that the radio coverage of Saturdays
game brought out (it wasn't noticed by Heinson and Cousey in the TV
coverage, but they were two busy talking about how bad the Atlanta Hawks
mascott smelled - yes, the two are already in mid-season form at missing
the action to say random things).

Anyway, late in the fourth quarter, Pitino called time out after a made
Atlanta basket. Boston had just lost the lead, at it was crunch time -
they needed a basket. Pitino drew up a play, and they went to inbound
the ball. Mills ended up on the wrong side of the floor, and the play was
broken. Pitino started laying into Mills big time, loud enough for the
radio broadcasters to hear it - all about Mills not running the play they
had just diagrammed.

I'm a little curious as to what is going on with Mills. This wasn't a
case of getting confused with the system, this was a case of not running a
play that the coach had just diagrammed for him. I know Mills has loked
somewhat down, both because of his trouble shooting and confusion in the
uptempo game, but messing up a set play off of a time out really bothers
me. This is the sort of stuff Rick Fox used to pull on Chris Ford before
they diagnosed Fox with AD. Is there any news that might explain what is
up with Mills? His shot looks very akward, he is not running the floor
well at all (in two games I can't remember ever seeing him on a wing on
any sort of break), and he seems to be confused even with set plays. Is
there a non-basketball story messing up his game?

Anyway, here's hoping for more against New Jersey,
