Rick Fox on Eric Williams

Williams dropped 27 on the Lakers and Rick Fox last night. This is out of
the Denver Post:

Oct. 10 - SAN DIEGO - According to Los Angeles
Lakers forward Rick Fox, the Denver
Nuggets made the trade steal of the summer.

No, Fox was not referring to getting three
first-round draft picks for power forward Antonio
                        McDyess.

"Eric Williams for two second-round draft picks . .
. are you kidding me?'' said Fox, who played
alongside Williams last season on the Boston
Celtics. "That's a steal. I was shocked when I
                        heard.''

Fox talked about Williams, the Nuggets' new
starting small forward, acquired from the Celtics,
before last night's exhibition opener at the San
Diego Sports Arena.

"Tell their fans to expect scoring . . . lots of it
. . . from Eric,'' Fox said. "He's a low-post scoring
machine. Expect him to be in the top five in the
league in free-throw attempts, too. He finds a way
to put the ball in the hole.''

Fox was surprised when he learned Williams had been
harshly criticized in Boston after the trade.

"There are a lot of guys they say can't play for
the Celtics,'' Fox said. "Their expectations are
                        different than for most players.

"I don't know what criteria they were holding him
to. He was on track to truly become a
                        dependable, reliable scorer.''
